Activities for Young People

Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself this year or embark on a new wellness journey, take a look at our range of activities for you to get involved in and pick up new skills that you can share.

Celebrating Our Cornrows

We’re excited to announce a new heritage project aimed at promoting the protective hairstyle cornrow within our community. In collaboration with our local museum, we will be producing a documentary & artwork to highlight the significance of cornrows in our culture.

This project provides opportunity for young people to develop skills in areas including film making, interviewing techniques, arts and craft, public speaking, public relations, and research. Participants will also have the chance to create novelty items & accessories as part of their learning journey.

By raising awareness about the importance of protective hairstyles like cornrows, we aim to contribute to promoting health & wellbeing within our community. You’re invited to join us in this exciting project and to help celebrate and preserve this important aspect of our heritage.

Event support and management team

Are you 14 to 19 years old? Are you interested in supporting your local community? Would you like to design, run and support events? If so join Community Kings & Queens. We empower young people to develop entrepreneurial, employment and leadership skills through event support and management. Check out some of the events we’ve attended in our image gallery below.

Football Sessions

Are you 11 to 16 years old? Every Saturday 10.30am to 12pm @ Canons High School Football Club. Available to boys and girls of all abilities. Come along and enjoy football training, skills building and friendly matches. Starting back on 13th January 2024.

Basketball Sessions

Are you 10 to 18 years old? Every Saturday 2 to 4pm @ Willesden Sports Centre receive professional coaching from England international basketball star Mike Martin. Available to boys and girls of all abilities. Young people can learn to play and increase their basketball skills, whilst having plenty fun.

Ultra Education's Youth Business Fair

24th November 2024

Our Community Kings and Queens shone at the 11th Youth Business Fair supporting Ultra Education with their amazing event, held at the iconic Wembley Stadium’s Great Hall

The event was a celebration of young talent, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. From setting up to stewarding, interviewing talented stallholders, and selling raffle tickets, our team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, leadership, and community spirit.

We are so proud of the energy, dedication, and zest they brought to this event.

Jason Roberts Foundation with Emile Heskey

11th February 2024

We had the incredible honour of meeting Liverpool and former England star Emile Heskey at the Jason Roberts Foundation 🙌⚽

Our community had the unique opportunity to rub shoulders with this football legend, and our youth got to meet someone who’s truly paved the way in the sport. 🏆 His journey and insights have inspired everyone, making this a day filled with education, motivation, and unforgettable memories!

100 Black Men of London - Vision Board Session

We were honoured to partner with the 100 Black Men of London on their inspiring mission to uplift the community. Together, we joined forces for their annual Vision Board session, part of their transformative Community Mentoring Programme. Helping both young and old set meaningful goals and priorities for the New Year was nothing short of amazing. Here’s to creating brighter futures and stronger communities! HAF Basketball & Multi-sports Winter Camp -Day 3

Our final set of highlights from Day 3 of our HAF Basketball and Multi-sports Winter Camp.

Thank-you to our amazing Zest of Mind Community Kings & Queens Event Support and management team members who were on hand all three days to help facilitate the smooth running of the event and to support the young people attending the camp.

HAF Basketball & Multi-sports Winter Camp -Day 2

4th January 2024

It’s Day 2 of our HAF Basketball and Multi-sports Winter Camp at Harrow Leisure Centre.

The kids were busting a sweat with Alastair in his spin class, trying to master archery and continuing with their basketball skills. Once again our amazing Event Support team was on hand to help out and make this another successful day.
